Eclipse card with Huge Hello and Sunday Adventure Prints!

I am enjoying creating with the huge hello die and Sunday Adventure prints. There are over 20 colors that coordinate with the Sunday Adventure prints that is full of a variety of patterns.  I just love that the Sweet Candy Drops and Spring Accent Dots coordinate so wonderfully with the Sunday Adventure Prints!  Fun Stampers Journey has a variety of embellishments that work beautifully with this printed paper pack!  It is a very versatile paper pack available in the Spring Into Summer mini through June 30, 2018. The Sunday Adventure Prints are a great addition to your crafting supplies.

I created this colorful and cheerful eclipse card. Can you spot the Hello?
Eclipse cards are so fun – the main image, in this case, Hello, is hidden and only noticeable because it is raised up off the card. I love the huge hello die – it is so easy to create with!
Here is an angled side view.  When looking at the eclipse card from this angle, the foam squares become visible.  It was a lot of work to trim the foam squares thin enough to fit in the middle of the hello.
I decided to create this same card layout using a different pattern from Sunday Adventure prints and different coordinating colors but instead of using foam squares, I decided to build up the hello with card stock.  I used 6 hellos cut out of Tangerine Fusion then adhered the printed paper on top.  It is a little higher than using foam squares, so I think I will try using 4 card stock hellos with printed paper on top the next time I create a similar card.   I suppose it all depends on the look you are going for.   Have fun with creating and experiment to find out how many layers work for the look you want.
I love how using the same color card stock that the printed paper is centered on gives the hello the effect of rising up out of that card stock.  This technique was easier for me than using a lot of little pieces of foam squares, and I like the effect better, too, when I turn the card to look at the side.  Am I the only one that moves my cards around to look at it from different angles?
Here is a collage photo so you can compare the two different cards and how the Hello was raised.  Eclipse cards remind me of the images that were trendy a long time ago that had a lot of images on the page and you had to relax your vision to see the hidden images.
Here is the video sharing how I created this Hello Eclipse card.
Here are the dimensions used for this card:
Card Base – 4 1/4 by 11 (folded in half to create a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 card)
Card stock that coordinates with printed paper –  4 1/16 by 5 5/16
printed paper – 4 by 5 1/4
card stock to cut huge hello to build up hello – 2 1/2 by 5 3/4

Hello with Sunday Adventure Prints

The new Celebrating Life’s Moments -Spring into Summer is full of items that will help you create with compassion and bring smiles to many faces!

I created this card for sketch 26 over on the Journey Sketches FB group.  It is a wonderful group with weekly sketch challenges and fabulous inspiration!

I used the Huge Hello die to create a faux eclipse look and added a subtle but oh so beautiful ombre effect to the edge of the hello.  The result is stunning!

I used Pomegranate Splash CS with one of the beautiful flower printed paper from Sunday Adventure Prints.  For the ombre hello, I used the following colors with Bubble Gum as the base of the hello, followed by Watermelon Fusion, Sweet Berry, Rich Coral, Cranberry Bliss, and Pomegranate Splash on the top to give the hello an “eclipse” look.

In this video, I share how I created this card but I use a different pattern paper and coordinating CS from the Sunday Adventure Prints and I love how it looks.

I am very tempted to create this card using more patterns and color combinations.  Be sure to like my FB page, Create With Compassion, there may be a chance to win one in a few weeks.  Be sure to set your notifications to your desired level so you don’t miss out on posts that you would like to see.

For the card demonstrated in the video, I used the adorable coffee paper from Sunday Adventure Prints and Summer Days CS.  I used only Summer Days CS for the Hello to give it a solid “eclipse” look.

Here are the dimensions for this card:

Card Base – 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 folded in half for a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 card, 3 7/8 by 5 1/8

Black Licorice – 4 by 5 1/4

CS for hello die about 2 1/2 by 4 /34 for each hello diecut.  Use the same color as cardbase or coordinating colors for a cool effect along the side of the hello diecut.

Printed Paper – 1 1/4 by 5 1/8

Which one is your favorite?

Have you ever created a card and then wondered what it would look like if you heat embossed the image or just changed something simple? Well, I had that thought and I couldn’t resist playing around with a very simple layout. I created 5 variations of the same card and I love each one!

There is a Giveaway on my FB page ( Create With Compassion ) that gives you an opportunity to win one of these cards.  There are two ways to win!  The post is pinned to the top of the page.

I also couldn’t resist exploring more ways to add color to my projects with the Color Splash. You can save 20% on color splashes and silks during April 2018!  Click on the image below to shop this promotion.

Here is the video sharing the creation of the card and the fun I  had with the Cool Pool Color Splash.

I had a lot of fun exploring different ways to mist my paper with the Cool Pool color splash.  I find that I am more confident with my spraying when I am outside and don’t have to worry about getting color on everything surrounding my card stock.  You can spritz it directly onto the card stock from varying distances to achieve slightly different amounts of saturation or spritz the color into the air then swipe the card stock through the mist that is hovering in the air.  Wind, length of time between spritzing and swiping, and the speed of the swipe seems to make a slight difference in the amount of saturation and look of your card stock.  I do recommend not wearing long sleeves or if you have them on, push them up.  You will get some color added to your hand if you are holding the card stock while adding color to it.  The color splash comes off easily and quickly with a little soap and water.  I recommend washing right away to help keep your project smudge free.

All of the cards were created using the same technique of using cool pool splash to “ink” the solid butterfly body stamp to add gorgeous color to the butterfly.  I also used the cool pool splash to add color to the whip cream panel, some of the pictures do not show the true color and beauty of the color splash.  Amazing what a little spritz can do!

Here is a look at each card variation.

The first one originally had no extra embellishments, but I received the awesome Journey Sequins- Blue Skies that have some cool pool sequins included.  I just had to add them to one of the cards and I love them!!  You can see what the card looked like without the sequins by viewing the video – it is shown near the beginning.  I stamped the lined butterfly image and sentiment with Black Licorice True Color Fusion ink.  I sponged the edges of the whip cream piece with cool pool ink.

For the second card, I wanted to see what Black Heat embossing would look like.  I love the shine and dimension that heat embossing gives, and I was not disappointed!  I sponged the edges with black licorice ink.

For the third card, I stamped all of the images with Black Licorice Ink, then sprinkled some Journey Sparkle Dust  onto the butterfly, then covered it with Journey Glaze.  Oh, I just love that sparkle, shine and added dimension!!  I sponged the edges with Black Licorice Ink, too.

For the fourth card, I wanted to add some sparkle tape but wasn’t sure where to add it so that it didn’t cover my butterfly or sentiment.  So, I added it to the bottom and popped up the sentiment.  The butterfly was stamped with Black Licorice ink and the sentiment was heat embossed with black licorice embossing powder.  I also added Sparkle dust and journey glaze to the butterfly.  I used Black Licorice Sparkle tape and Whip Cream Sparkle tape.  I didn’t have any of the cool pool sparkle tape, so I covered a strip of cool pool cardstock with the whip cream sparkle tape and that lets some of the beautiful cool pool color shine through and the result is so sparkly!  The edges of this card is sponged with Cool Pool Ink.

For the final card, I used the sparkle tape just like in the fourth card and I stamped the butterfly and sentiment with black licorice ink.  I used the Sparkle Silk that was watered down a little bit to paint some sparkle onto the butterfly and the word Beautiful.  There is no sponging done on this card.

Here are the card stock and dimensions used for this card.  Please scroll to end of post for all items used.

Cool Pool – card base (4 1/4 by 11 folded in half) , 3 9/16 by 4 13/16, 3 1/2 by 5 /8 (for whip cream sparkle tape)

Black Licorice – 3 13/16 by 5 1/16

Whip Cream – 4 by 5 1/4 (optional inside panel), 3 1/2 by 4 3/4, 3 1/2 by 1 1/4 (optional for popped up sentiment)

Please go vote for your favorite version on my Facebook page, Create With Compassion, as well as share it with your friends.  There are two different ways to have a chance to win one of these cards.

What are Fun Stampers Journey Silks?

Splish Splash Sparkle with Fun Stampers Journey during April 2018!

There is an awesome promotion that offers a savings of 20% on ala carte silks and splashes, and an awesome Splish Splash sampler for everyone who joins the journey during April 2018!

You may be wondering what is silk?

Silks are water based with metallic paint and enamel like properties included in the mixture.  It comes in a 0.5 oz size bottle with a brush tip – similar to nail polish.  There is a small bead in the bottle to aid with mixing.  It is important to mix well before using so that your project will have the shine and shimmer that silks offer.  There are quite a few ways to create with the silks.  Here is a video where I experimented with the silks.

Here are some pictures of the results of my crafting fun time.

The whip cream piece has silver and gold silk flicked onto it.  The black licorice and grape fusion has bubble gum (you can see a hint of pink in some of the splotches), whip cream (a white shimmer) and sparkle silk (pure shimmer).  I think flicking the silk onto projects is probably the most common way to use the silks.

The silks are great to water color with, too.  I used the gold silk watered down on the bottom right petal, bubble gum silk watered down on the top petal, the center is gold silk directly applied with the brush applicator, and the blue petal is the sparkle silk mixed with blue lagoon paint.  All give a beautiful shimmer.

For this image, I put a few drops of Bubble Gum silk onto a clear plastic sheet (one that comes with the FSJ stamps) then spritzed water onto the silk using the media mister.  Then I placed a piece of whip cream cs onto the puddle.  I then picked up the piece and placed it back into the mixture where ever I wanted to add a little more color.  So beautiful. There is still shimmer to the color but it is very subtle and hard to see in this picture.

For this image, I flicked some gold silk, silver silk, black licorice silk and bubble gum silk onto the gel press then just laid a piece of whip cream cs on top and rubbed my hand over it.  Since the silks are water based, I am sure there are quite a bit of fun to be had with the silks and the gel press.

You can also use stencils with the silks.  The very shimmery bubble gum and silver images are created by simply painting the silk onto the bubble bubble stencil that was on whip cream cs.  The duller bubble gum bubbles is the result of mixing bubble gum silk with journey modeling paste then spreading that mixture onto the bubble bubble stencil with a spatula onto the whip cream cs.  You can see that the silk does seep a little bit underneath the stencil which is a cool effect, the modeling paste works great with the stencil and gives you a sharp, crisp image of your stencil.

You can stamp using the silks.  Simply brush your silk onto the stamp image you would like to stamp, then stamp.  It is a good idea not to have your brush full of silk goodness.  Also, it is important to clean your stamp immediately before the silk dries – it does have metallic paint and enamel properties that will be hard to clean off once dry.

This image shows the sparkle silk added to the center of a couple of flowers and the one on the right is the gold silk added to the center of a flower.  The silks are great to add to the printed paper!

What is Color Splash and Silk by Fun Stampers Journey?

Splish Splash Sparkle with Fun Stampers Journey during April 2018!

There is an awesome promotion that offers a savings of 20% on ala carte silks and splashes, and an awesome Splish Splash sampler for everyone who joins the journey during April 2018!

You may have questions about what is color splash?

Color Splashes are pigment based with a small mixture of metallic substance, so you will want to shake it before using.  It is archival, fast drying and fade resistant.  It can be used on a variety of work surfaces like wood, chip board, card stock, water color paper, canvas and possibly more.  You receive a 2 oz bottle that has a no clog nozzle.  You can spritz your project, dilute with water for a water colored look, use with stencils and the gel press and so much more.  Now is a great time to purchase one (or more) of the 17 exclusive colors at a 20% savings – each is regularly $7.95 but during April 2018, you can purchase each color splash for only $6.36.  All 17 are available as a bundle that saves you money – but purchasing them individually this month saves you even more.

I hope you enjoy this video where I do a little experimenting with the Cool Pool Color Splash.

Here are some pictures of the results of my crafting experiment.

The image on the left is the color splash mixed with whip cream paint and used on a stencil.  The images on the right are the color splash mixed with water for a water color look.

The image on the left is the color splash spritzed onto a whip cream cs with the bubble bubble stencil.  The image on the right has the color splash that was left on the stencil from the piece on the left, I simply placed the side with the color splash on the stencil down onto the paper.  The piece on the right also has color splash mixed with journey modeling paste that was spread across the bubble bubble stencil onto whip cream cs.  I love the raised texture.

Top left piece is cool pool cs with cool pool splash spritzed on it, top right scrap of whip cream cs with cool pool splash spritzed on it – the different size droplets depend on how you squeeze the trigger and how far you are from the paper.  The bottom left is river stone cs with cool pool splash spritzed on it and the bottom right is beach breeze with cool pool splash spritzed on it.

The piece on the left is whip cream cs with cool pool splash – I opened the bottle and used the tube that is connected to the sprayer to flick larger drops onto the paper.  The piece on the right is oatmeal cookie with cool pool splash spritzed on it.

These snowflakes were created by mixing cool pool splash with whip cream paint.  The one on the left was dabbed onto the stencil with a paint brush and the one on the right was painted onto the stencil with a paint brush.  It has a very cool feel to it when you gently rub your finger on it.

I heat embossed the small bird from the Birdie Fest Stamp set with clear embossing powder.  Then I spritzed cool pool splash on top.  I saturated the one on the left more than the right and you can see that it soaks into the paper and is visible under the clear embossed image.  I used cool pool cs on the left and watermelon fusion on the right.  I like how the cool pool splash has a purplish look when absorbed into the watermelon fusion cs.
