Sketches are a great resource to take advantage of when creating. They can challenge you, give you inspiration or a starting point when you’re not sure where to begin and it is great to see the different creations that all come from one sketch.
I am absolutely loving the Facebook group called Journey Sketches. It is a group that was started by two very creative ladies, Janice Whiting and Kazan Clark. They take turns posting a sketch each week along with a sample card.
Here is the sketch for week 2 that Janice Whiting created.
I wanted to stay as true to the sketch as possible and considered a variety of stamp sets but none seemed to work out for me. Near the end of the week, I had a thought to use the Tag This punch as balloons! It has all 3 of the shapes found in the sketch.
I was so excited to use the Tag This punch in a way that is somewhat out of the box. I love having items in my crafting area that can be used in a variety of ways. I also love having a cute card with an easy way to use up scraps of paper!
Since the Tag This punch will give you three different shaped balloons, you can easily make 3 cards (or more!) This is a fairly easy card to mass produce and is great for anyone to receive!
Another tool that I used in a somewhat out of the box type way is the Journey Bloom Tool. I used the three rounded stylus tips to give my card some white splotches and to add a detail to the balloons.
The Journey Whip Cream Thread has 3 strands twisted together. You simply hold one end and twist the string to the right and you will see the three strands separate. I just felt that the full thread was a little thicker then I wanted, and was excited to see that I can use one thread for all three balloons!
I hope that you have found some inspiration and tips in the creation of this card. If you would like to purchase any of the supplies, you will find links below. Thank you for spending a little time creating with compassion with me!
The November 2017 Bloom Boxes are being processed and I can not wait to create with the beautiful Birthday Song Stamp Set. This is an exclusive set that is only guaranteed to Bloom Box subscribers, but is available while supplies last for those who would like to purchase the ala carte option at a slightly higher price.

Did you notice the savings of $5 every month when you subscribe and the guarantee that you will be among the first to receive an exclusive set and four great card kits that include adorable embellishments and envelopes.
The Bloom Box is more than a card kit…it is a monthly class. There are always techniques to learn and experiment with. Each box comes with a colored instruction booklet that will teach you the techniques and walk you through the creation of the card. Fun Stampers Journey also shares the techniques in a video. Check out this month’s video:

Welcome to the Journey Blog Hoppers Make Amazing Blog Hop! I’m so happy to have you hopping along!
If you have arrived from Glenda Calkins’ blog, you’re on the right track! If not, that’s ok too! Just continue the hop and you will come full circle!
I would like to share with you this adorable treat box that will hold a variety of small items. The Fun Stampers Journey Printed Paper does all the decorative work for me. I just need coordinating card stock, a little twine or ribbon and a tag. This little box is easy to create and is sure to create a smile, too.
The finished dimensions of this box is 3 3/4 long by 1 1/4 wide by 3/4 tall. You can create two boxes from one 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of card stock and get enough printed paper to make at least 10 (more if you don’t put paper on the bottom) from a 12 by 12. If you would like a video showing how to mass produce this project and how to cut the paper, just leave a comment to let me know.
Here are the measurements for this treat box:
Card stock – 4 3/4 by 6 3/4
score on the 6 3/4 side at 3/4, 1 1/2, 5 1/4, 6; score on the 4 3/4 side at 3/4, 2, 2 3/4, 4
Printed paper – 2 pieces – 1 1/8 by 3 5/8; 3 pieces – 5/8 by 3 5/8; 2 pieces 5/8 by 3 5/8
scrap card stock for tag
View this video to learn how to create the box.
Here is the template for the treat box. The red lines are where to cut, black lines to fold on, orange numbers are the dimensions of the printed paper, purple numbers are the scoring measurements, follow the green arrows for printed paper that has an up or down element to it (like the flowers in the top picture).
Thank you for stopping by today, be sure to head to Jen Guarino’s blog next.
Here is the Journey Blog Hoppers Make Amazing Blog Hop List:
- Deborah (you are here)
The Fun Stampers Journey Crew is full of inspiration and education! Two ladies, Shannon Smith and Kimberly Kesti, shared amazing techniques that featured the gel press. I just had to get my gel press off the shelf that it had been sitting on since it arrived and play! I also broke out the pan pastels to create a soft look for my flowers.
I created two cards with different backgrounds by taking advantage of the gel press and the stencil.
I love that each card is so different but was so easy to create and was like a two for one background technique. Here is a video that shares how these cards were created.
You can try this technique with a variety of colors in cardstock and reinkers or liquid colors, even paint.
The flowers were colored with coordinating Pan Pastel colors. The pan pastels gave the flowers a soft look just like the background has a soft hint of color. I added some Journey Sparkle Dust to the center of the flowers then covered the entire flower with Journey Glaze.
You can use these cards for any occasion!

There is a great new group on Facebook called Journey Sketches. Each week there will be a new sketch challenge that will help inspire creativity.
I just absolutely love the elephant in the Anything is Possible ATS and knew right away that it needed to be the focus of this card.
The Mother Nature Prints made choosing my color combination easy. I am so excited about the different color possiblities that Fun Stampers Journey provides with the Print packs available for each of the color collections. Each color collection has the same patterns but feature colors from that collections, so there are countless color options for this card!
I sponged the edges on all of the cardstock used in my first card. I used Fresh Forest ink on the Fresh Forest Layer, Denim Days ink on the cardbase, inside whip cream panel, both Mother Nature Print pieces, sentiment banner and the Denim Days layer, then River Stone ink was sponged on the circle diecut. The fusion ink sponges work great for this technique!
I kept the card created in the video cleaner by not sponging the edges of the cardstock.
As you can see, sponging does create a different look or feel to the card. I think adding wiggly eyes is a great option, too. Wiggly eyes are cute and easier then cutting out those small eyes and adding journey glaze. You can compare the two cards and see the difference in the eyes with and without journey glaze.
Here are all of the papers and dimensions (inches) used for this card:
Denim Days – 4 1/4 by 11 folded at 5 1/2 for the cardbase and 2 3/4 by 4
Fresh Forest – 3 7/8 by 5 1/8
Mother Nature Prints – 3 3/4 by 5 and 2 5/8 by 3 7/8
Whip Cream – 1/2 by 2 1/2, 3 1/4 by 3 1/4 (for circle diecut), 4 by 5 1/4
scraps of River Stone, Denim Days, Fresh Forest and Whip Cream
I had so much fun creating this card for the sketch challenge!
