Shaving Cream technique with Small Things (FSJ)

Have you tried creating with shaving cream yet?

I have put it off for the longest time but finally sat down to play and it was so much fun.  A little messy but not as bad as I thought it would be.

For this card, I used shaving cream with Fun Stampers Journey Liquid Colors.  I think any liquid medium would work great and plan to check that theory out sometime with the True Color Fusion reinkers, silks and color splashes.

I absolutely love the control you have with the shaving cream technique when it comes to color saturation… can add more and blend more to have solid colors or blend just a little bit and create movement on your card.  The cardstock with the shaving cream mixture on it is stampable so this would be a great technique to use for flower images, butterflies and more.

I love how making small changes can make a big difference in your card -simply by changing the color, an accessory or the layout.  I made a few small changes for the creation of the tutorial video.

The Fun Stampers Journey Color Burst Pencils really add some gorgeous  and bold color to the butterfly from the Small Things Stamp Set.  This set has a coordinating die set and is available to purchase separately or save money by purchasing the Small Things Bundle.

I also created a card using a portrait landscape.  I think it gives the card a different look and feel even though I used the same basic layout and items.  I love how the Journey  Sequins – Blue Skies and Pink World look with this card, but also wanted to try a little something different for this card, so I used the Sweet Candy Drops.  I love the color options in the  Sweet Candy Drops and they worked wonderfully with my card, and there are 88 included in the pack!

The cardstock and dimensions are:

Cardbase – Catalina Splash – 4 1/4 by 11 folded in half to create a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 card

Black Licorice – 4 1/8 by 5 3/8 to layer the background piece on.

Whip Cream – 4 by 5 1/4 – background piece.

Whip Cream – scrap piece about 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 to stamp butterfly on then cut out.

Cool Pool – scrap piece about 2 1/2 by 2 to diecut the third oval in the Journey Ovals die set.
